Relive the Corpus Christi procession at the Gimnasio de Los Cerros school.

On Saturday, June 4, 2022, many families, teachers, collaborators and students gathered at the Los Cerros Gymnasium to celebrate a Eucharistic procession in honor of Corpus Christi.

Hernán Salcedo Plazas, Vicar Secretary of Opus Dei in Colombia, celebrated Holy Mass. At the end, to the astonishment of all present, the rain stopped, as if nature was also predisposed to facilitate the praise of the Lord. Thus, it was possible to have the procession of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ through the facilities of the College as planned.

Along the way, the Blessed Sacrament stopped at four altars, where it received the homage and adoration of all those present. At each one of them, the station that begins: Blessed and praised be Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament of the Altar, be forever blessed and praised; followed three times by an Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be. It was also venerated with incense and the sound of bells and a special prayer led by parents, students and teachers.

The second grade students, who had received their first communion the week before, dressed in their dress uniform, went in front of the Holy Monstrance, throwing rose petals.

The girls' choir, from Aspaen Gimnasio Iragua, a sister school in Bogota, sang at Holy Mass and accompanied the procession with four songs alluding to the real presence of Jesus in the sacrament of the Altar.

The Colombian Navy War Band was also present, accompanying the procession with their trumpets and drums, giving a very solemn tone to the passing of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

This Eucharistic procession involved the whole educational community in its preparation. The handmade flower carpets were designed by some teachers, but were later decorated by students and some families who arrived very early on the day of the procession.
